How were these ten chosen?
A list like this needs a caveat before it needs anything else: reading what very rich people read will not make you rich. The causation is mostly the other way round, and survivorship bias is doing enormous work in every list of this kind, including this one. What makes it worth compiling anyway is the pattern. The recommendations that recur are rarely business books at all — they tend towards psychology, history, biography and the mechanics of decision-making under uncertainty, which is itself the interesting finding. Do I have to read them in order?
No. The numbering reflects how strongly we would recommend each one, not a sequence. Most people are best starting with whichever addresses the problem in front of them right now, and the difficulty ratings on each review will tell you what you are taking on.
